Currently DIMOCO in undergoing three major projects aimed at improving the quality of life in Dingamo, Nimba County Liberia
Projects
Education Initiative.
While both public and private schools exist in Dingamo, there are citizens in the town who take their children on the farm rather than send them to school. Many of the citizens cannot afford material requirements for their children to attend school.
DIMOCO has placed much focus on providing opportunites for all children in the town to attend school. Once parents can provide food and shelter DIMOCO hopes to fulfill the need for supplies by providing notebooks, pens, pencils, sharpeners, and book bags.
The activities the organization aims to embark in are not limited to supplying material needs for the students but also include the addition of a library annex to the towns major public school, as well as supplying the town with generators to give students the opportunity to study during all hours of the day, to cope with the lack of electricity in Dingamo.
Water Project
There is a water source in Dingamo facilitated through work of a non-governmental organization. The water source however is located far from the town, and individuals can only get water during the day. Also many older folks in the town can no longer walk the distance to the water source.
DIMOCO wants to bring the water in the town through pipeline, making water accessible day and night. Bringing water supply to Dingamo will also combat community deterioration in many ways. Unpaid volunteers will conduct this activity and the materials will be provided by DIMOCO.
This project will be executed when adequate funds are raised and once completed, will leave room fro other projects.
Sanitation Project
DIMOCO has educated the people of Dingamo about health benefits of toilets and many are building some near homes instead of using the bushes surrounding the town. In the future it aims to encourage construction of indoor toilets. To facilitate such, it plans to embark on a sewage system as another project.
This project will lessen burden on the local government which apparently does not have the fund or plan to undertake such a project.
Material supplies for this project will be provided by DIMOCO and unpaid volunteers will provide labor and expertise as everyone in this town shares interest in its transformation.
